Natural, Durable, Beautiful

When a tooth is cracked, decayed, or severely damaged, Dr. Sadati may recommend a crown. Crowns or caps are designed by Dr. Sam Sadati and our lab in the shape of your tooth to protect and cover your remaining tooth structure. Crowns are favored because of the versatility, strength and stability they provide.

A bridge is a device that Dr. Sadati uses to "bridge" a gap left by one or more missing teeth. A typical bridge consists of an artificial tooth, called a "pontic" attached to two adjacent crowns, called "abutments". By anchoring itself to neighboring teeth for added strength, a bridge is one solution for teeth that have been extracted, knocked out or fallen out on their own. Bridge replacement requires that your mouth be free of gum disease.

Crowns and bridges are typically made from superior materials such as zirconium, porcelain, precious metals like gold and semi-precious metals or a combination of metal fused to porcelain. When selecting the crown material suitable for you, Dr Sadati considers the location, health, appearance and function of each tooth.

Placing Your South Florida Dental Crown or Bridge

Crowns and bridges can brighten, reshape and realign existing teeth, enhancing the health and attractiveness of your smile. Since they restore proper occlusal pressure (the natural tension or pushing force between teeth), crowns and bridges can also help improve bite correction.

The application process is similar for a crown and a bridge. During your initial visit, Wellington dentist Sam Sadati anesthetizes your tooth and, if necessary, painlessly removes all local decay.

For crowns, your tooth is sculpted to create an ideal fit, then an impression is taken to be sent to the ceramist. During this interim period between when your impressions are taken and when our lab returns your fabricated crowns, Dr. Sadati fits you with a temporary crown or bridge made of acrylic resin. During your second visit, Dr. Sadati removes your temporary and bonds the permanent crown or bridge into your mouth.

Maintain your new crown through proper brushing and flossing. Use special floss and water picks to clean underneath your bridge. Pay special attention to your gumline and avoid chewing on hard foods. Bridges can last at least a decade and crowns even longer. Given the proper care, they may even last a lifetime.
