Miami Sedation Dentist

Miami sedation dentistry

Some call it sedation dentistry. It's actually anxiolysis — a sleep-like state that makes you so relaxed, you may not even remember your appointment. And it is offered by Miami dentist Dr. Sam Sadati at the Sadati Center for Aesthetic Dentistry.

Dr. Sadati is a member of the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation, an international organization that trains dentists in the use of sedation dentistry, or anxiolysis.

Who Is a Candidate for Anxiolysis?

If you have had traumatic dental experiences so that the idea of dental treatment makes you highly anxious, this could be your answer.

If you have difficulty getting numb, some type of sedation dentistry will make it so that you are completely numb. Either nitrous oxide, which is a milder form of sedation, or anxiolysis, which is stronger, may be used, depending on your preferences.

The Anxiolysis Procedure

Dr. Sadati will give you a pill to take the night before your appointment, to be sure you get a good night's rest. Then you get another pill to take just before your appointment. You will be awake during the procedure, but anxiety-free. The medication also has an amnesia effect so that often you don't remember anything that happens during the procedure.

As a safety precaution, your vital signs are carefully monitored during the procedure using a pulse oximeter, a sophisticated device that monitors, through your finger, whether or not your blood has the proper oxygen concentration.

The Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation (DOCS)

Dr. Sadati is a member of DOCS, a nationwide organization of sedation dentists that sets training and monitoring standards. It provides updates in technology and procedures, and helps insure the safety of sedation dentistry procedures all over the country.
